We went on holiday to Gujarat in the first week of nov-07. Highlights of the trip
1 Asawari turned into a avid bird watcher. Made a list of more than 100 birds we saw in Bhuj. Thanks to Jugal(CADO, Bhuj) - his care and passion in birding made both the kids comfortable and genuinely interested.
2 Dhrupad enjoyed 13hrs bird safari (supported by fanta & chips :-)
3 We as family traveled together in various transport - plane, train, boat, open jeep, close jeep.
4 We traveled lightest ever - Each one of us took only 3pairs of clothes for the 10 day trip. No cosmetics, no extra pair of shoes, no toys or coloring books for kids, no extra food - just bare minimum things we carried. Kids showed amazing enthu in washing their clothes at the end of the tiring day - everyday.
5 We met amazing people during the trip. While our trip to gujarat was supposed to be primarily a wildlife trip it finally became a "people" trip. We got to meet such wonderful people - like - Jugal, Mustak and Naresh the warmth the hospitality and the affection and care we received was truly touching and we can simply bow in gratitude.
6 Thanks to Mustak (President hotel, Jamnagar) we had an adventure trip to Pirotan island - boating in fisherman's boat in the middle of the night.
7 We saw Lioness in Gir sitting gracefully at the edge of a cliff - we traveled just 100 mtrs and our open jeep ran out of fuel !!! And then the heavy rain started - the jungle turned into a open muddy river and just then we saw two lionesses with cubs. Did not know weather to save us from the rain or just enjoy the spectacular site!!!
MORE DETAILS:
Gujrat wildlife - there is so much to explore in Gujrat for nature lovers and specially bird watchers. We saw almost 130+ species of birds only in Bhuj. Meeting Mr Jugal of CEDO was an amazing experience. His passion in his work is amazing. Meet him on www.cedobirding.com
As we landed in the BHUJ we sighted Serpent crested Eagle - suppose to be sighted for the first time in Bhuj. And that's how we were welcomed.
Jugal showed a lot of interest in introducing birding to our nine year old daughter Asawari, and believe me she has started loving bird watching.
next destination: Little rann - saw wild Asses and lot of other birds. Specially Pelicans, Flamingos and Cranes.
Next destination: Gir - Lionesses with cubs sighting was breath taking.
Next destination: Jamnagar - Marine wildlife - something unique. And the best part was midnight boating till the pirotan island, staying there overnight in a tent, going inside the sea to see the marine life - octopus, puffer fish, star fish, sea animals and yes corals - many colours - all live. Truly appreciate Mr Mustak's passion and all the help he extended us to make this trip memorable. He went all out of his way to help us in getting permission from the forest dept, arranging for boat, tent, bedding and food at the island. Thank you for being such a great passionate person. Meet him at Mustak Amin Mepani, Hotel President , Phone : +91 288 2557491 (+ 2557492, 2558492, 2558493, 2557110),Email : info@hotelpresident.in Website: www.hotelpresident.in & www.jamnagar.org
Ahemdaabd was just stop over for 6 hrs - but met extremely friendly and helpful family - Naresh and his family made our stay at Ahemdabad a memorable event. Visit to Gandhi Ashram was spiritual ending to our trip - no better way to end the great trip or start the festival of Deepavali.
Love Aditi-Ratnesh-Asawari and Dhrupad
